“Twice-born.”
The thigh
The vine
The mask
Semele burns. The child is sewn into Zeus’s thigh and born again. Dionysus is the outsider who is also the most intimate god: ivy, mask, the loosening of the name you wear at work. Pentheus tries to police him and is torn apart by his own mother. The theater is his temple because pretending is how the truth gets in.
Dionysus is not permission to wreck your life. He is the reminder that a life with no ecstasy is already wrecked, only quietly.

INTERPRETATION
When Dionysus comes, a persona has grown too small. Jung treated him as the dissolving of inflation’s opposite: rigidity. The work is to let something die without throwing your entire ethics into the fire.
The shadow
Pentheus. The policeman of ecstasy. Order that has become a kind of death.

Where has order become a kind of death, and what would a true undoing look like?

What sacred undoing is asking to be lived, not binged and then regretted?
Coelho
What marvel are you missing because you will not put the mask down for an hour?
