The labyrinth is her father’s machine for hiding shame. Theseus is the visiting solution. Ariadne knows the architecture, so she hands him the thread: the only honest technology in the myth. He kills the bull-man, follows the thread out, and sails without her.
On Naxos she is wreckage. Then Dionysus. The constellation Corona Borealis is sometimes told as her crown, set in the sky so the abandonment is not the last frame. Ariadne is not the helper. She is the one who understood the maze, survived being useful, and had to invent a life that was not a function of someone else’s victory.

Ariadne appears when you have been the thread for other people. The crisis is not the labyrinth: you already know labyrinths. The crisis is the beach after the hero leaves, and whether you can stop being infrastructure.
